DESCRIPTION:<p>Join us in celebrating Livermore’s sesquicentennial and the everlasting glow of the legendary&nbsp;<a href="https://www.livermoreca.gov/things-to-do/centennial-light-bulb" target="_self">Centennial Light</a>—the world’s longest-burning bulb! For 125 years, this humble glow has witnessed history, scientific innovation, and the birth of a bustling community. Now it’s your turn to shine! Submit your best haiku inspired by endurance, light, and the passage of time. Let your words illuminate the story of a bulb that never sleeps.</p><ul type="disc">    <li>Theme:&nbsp;Light That Never Sleeps</li>    <li>Format:&nbsp;Traditional haiku structure: 3 lines, 17 syllables (5-7-5)</li>    <li>Eligibility:&nbsp;Open to all ages and skill levels</li></ul><p>Haiku submissions will be collected during the month of May. All entries should be submitted via a form provided on all marketing materials and in the calendar entry on the Library’s website. The contest will run throughout the month of May, closing at 11:59 p.m. on May 31, 2026. Only one entry per person is allowed.</p><p>The winner will be selected by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.livermoreca.gov/departments/innovation-economic-development/arts/poet-laureate" target="_self">City of Livermore Poet Laureate</a>, Peggy Schimmelman, based on the following criteria: creativity and originality, connection to theme, emotional impact and imagery.
