It’s a time for Livermore Public Library (LPL) to celebrate the history and cultural impact of Black Americans. All are invited to attend free events and utilize the offered resources and services to learn more about this nationally celebrated month.</p><ul>    <li>February 1 – 28,&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/?splash=https%3a%2f%2faotad.org%2f&amp;____isexternal=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Art of the African Diaspora</a>&nbsp;Exhibit,&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/about-us/locations-hours-holidays/civic-center" target="_self">Civic Center Library</a>. &nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/?splash=https%3a%2f%2faotad.org%2f&amp;____isexternal=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Art Of The African Diaspora</a>, in partnership with&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/?splash=https%3a%2f%2frichmondartcenter.org%2f&amp;____isexternal=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Richmond Art Center</a>, supports artists of African descent in the Bay Area through representation, professional development, and building a creative community. Test your knowledge and learn more about important figures in Black History.</li></ul><ul>    <li>February 3 – 28, Take &amp; Make Craft,&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/about-us/locations-hours-holidays/springtown-library" target="_self">Springtown Library</a>. Come collect a kit inspired by the book&nbsp;<i><a href="https://livermorelibrary.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?query=Something%2C%20Someday&amp;searchType=smart" target="_self">Something, Someday</a></i>&nbsp;by Amanda Gorman and Christian Robinson.</li></ul><ul>    <li>February 7 at 2 p.m.: Author Talk with&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/?splash=https%3a%2f%2fwww.changecadet.com%2fabout&amp;____isexternal=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Akilah Cadet</a>&nbsp;at&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/about-us/locations-hours-holidays/civic-center" target="_self">Civic Center Library</a>. Join Cadet as she speaks about her book,&nbsp;<i><a href="https://livermorelibrary.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?query=White%20Supremacy%20is%20All%20Around" target="_self">White Supremacy is All Around: Notes from a Black Disabled Woman in a White World</a>,&nbsp;</i>and what it is like living at the intersection of many identities. ASL interpretation will be provided.</li></ul><ul>    <li>February 12, from 5-8 p.m.: Game Night at&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/?splash=https%3a%2f%2fwww.longevitywines.com%2f&amp;____isexternal=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Longevity Wines</a>. The Library will host a family-friendly game night at the&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/?splash=https%3a%2f%2fwww.longevitywines.com%2fupcoming-winery-events.html&amp;____isexternal=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Longevity Wines Tasting Room</a>. Enjoy a night of trivia for a chance to win prizes!</li></ul><ul>    <li>February 20 at 3:30 p.m.:&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/?splash=https%3a%2f%2fshibamboworldmusic.com%2fhome-1&amp;____isexternal=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Baba Shibambo</a>&nbsp;at&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/about-us/locations-hours-holidays/rincon-library" target="_self">Rincon Branch Library</a>. This program will be an interactive, high-energy performance that takes the audience on “a journey back into the heart of ancient Africa through music and story.” Baba Shibambo will play and have the audience participate by also playing traditional African instruments. He will present an authentic Zulu folktale set to music. The audience will have the chance to learn traditional African dance moves and learn the background of the dances.</li></ul><ul>    <li>February 22 at 2 p.m.:&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/?splash=https%3a%2f%2fwww.ashleyjemison.com%2fpages%2fbio&amp;____isexternal=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ashley Jemison</a>&nbsp;and Company Concert at&nbsp;<a href="https://library.livermoreca.gov/about-us/locations-hours-holidays/civic-center" target="_self">Civic Center Library</a>.
